Medical Staff DANIEL P. LAMMERTSE, MD
Dr Lammertse joined CNS in 1981, and has served as Medical Director of Craig Hospital since 1984. He is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with a sub-specialty certification in Spinal Cord Injury. He serves as Program Director of the Rocky Mountain Regional Spinal Cord Injury System, Chair of NIDRR SCI Model Systems Project Directors Committee, past-president of the American Spinal Injury Association, and has authored numerous chapters and scientific articles on spinal cord injury. Dr. Lammertse is an Associate Clinical Professor of Rehabilitation at the University of Colorado, and is internationally recognized as an expert in SCI rehabilitation.
Dr. Balazy joined CNS in 1987 after completing his Fellowship in Neurotrauma Rehabilitation. He is board certified by the American Board of Medicine and Rehabilitation with a sub-specialty certification in SCI. For over 17 years, Dr. Balazy served as Craig’s Medical Director of the Multitrauma Unit at Swedish Medical Center. He is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Hsu has been a member of the CNS staff since 1980. He is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with a sub-specialty certification in Spinal Cord Injury. Dr. Hsu has been involved in extensive research in tracheal and esophageal complications in spinal cord injury, and is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Colorado.
Dr. Johansen joined the CNS staff in 2000 after completing a Fellowship in Neurotrauma Rehabilitation at Craig Hospital, and is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is the Medical Director of the Craig Hospital Spasticity Clinic, and is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Colorado.
Dr. Maerz joined CNS in 2001. He is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and is the Team Leader of the SCI/TBI team at Craig. Dr. Maerz is also a licensed Professional Engineer with a special interest in the application of assistive technology for persons with brain and spinal cord injury.
Dr. Weintraub has been a member of the CNS staff since 1986, and is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is the Medical Director of Craig’s TBI Program and the NIDRR TBI Model Systems Project, and is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He is a member of the Colorado Division of Workers Compensation Task Force for the development of Medical Treatment Guidelines for TBI. Dr. Weintraub’s research interests include advances in neurodiagnostics, TBI aging, pharmacological rehabilitation and sports-related brain injury.
Dr. Ripley joined CNS Medical Group in 2004, and directs one of Craig's TBI treatment teams. He recently served as Medical Director of Post Acute Services, and as Medical Director for Brain Injury Research at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Ripley is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and is a Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.
Dr. Lanig joined CNS in 1989, and is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with a sub-specialty certification in spinal cord injury. She has authored several chapters on topics in spinal cord injury, and was lead author on a textbook on Health Promotion and SCI. Dr. Lanig serves on the board of directors of the American Paraplegia Society, and is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Cilo joined CNS in 1978 after completing his Fellowship in Neurotrauma Rehabilitation at Craig Hospital, and is Board Certified in Neurology. He serves as Medical Director of Trauma Rehabilitation at Littleton Hospital, and also attends patients at other area facilities. Dr. Cilo was the founder of the Brain Injury Treatment Program at Craig Hospital, and developed the SCI-TBI team at Craig. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
Clinical Assistants
